The Thrillers

Got a flight or a long journey coming up? A wait in the dentist's chair?

Pick up some of these books we've selected.

Agatha Christie - the Queen of detective fiction.

  1. The ABC Murders:
The little Belgian detective with the egg-shaped head gets a letter from 'ABC':
  2. YOU FANCY YOURSELF, DON'T YOU, AT SOLVING MYSTERIES THAT ARE TOO DIFFICULT FOR OUR POOR THICKHEADED BRITISH POLICE? LET US SEE, MR. CLEVER POIROT, JUST HOW CLEVER YOU CAN BE. .................LOOK OUT FOR ANDOVER ON THE 21st OF THE MONTH.

Sure enough, a Mrs. Ascher is murdered at Andover on the 21st. The second letter says Bexhill, and Betty Barnard is found strangled. The third victim is Sir Carmichael Clarke, then a fourth murder at Doncaster...

Beside the corpse each time lies an ABC railway guide open at the name of the place of murder.

How far through the alphabet will the homicidal maniac get? Read on. This is brilliant stuff.

  3. And yet another masterful book. Read it. I'd best not reveal anything at all about it, just that it's terrific. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd: Get hold of a copy - you won't regret it.
  4. And Then There Were None, also called Ten Little Indians. What happens in the nursery rhyme starts happening to ten people invited to an island and marooned on it. Believe me, this book is literally unputdownable. Gooseflesh all the way. There's a turtleback as also a paperback available.
